Alliance_for_EducationToday, elected leaders from San Bernardino County’s 24 cities and towns and County government were asked to become more involved in the education system to help youth achieve academic and career success.

These leaders sitting as the Board of Directors for San Bernardino Associated Governments (SANBAG) last year adopted a Countywide Vision goal to partner with all sectors of the community to support the success of every child from cradle to career. Working collaboratively with local business, labor, government, community- and faith-based organizations, parents and education, the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools’ Alliance for Education has developed a roadmap for success, identifying key milestones in a child’s personal, social, academic and career readiness.

County Schools’ Leslie Rodden asked the SANBAG Board members to join the county’s 33 school districts in identifying and implementing action plans that will help students achieve the cradle to career milestones successfully. The Alliance for Education is assisting with the formation of community cabinets in each of the districts and would like local government leaders to be active members of those cabinets.

“We need you – leaders in this community – to take this across all 33 school districts in this county,” Rodden said. “This is one of the most important things we can do to change our economy.”
