Help promote literacy in your community and donate a book at the Sunday, Sept. 11 High Desert Mavericks game in Adelanto.
The books will go to the Ready4Reading Book Club, a nonprofit that provides books to needy children in the High Desert. The Ready4Reading Book Club was recently recognized as a Reading Hero by First District Supervisor Robert Lovingood as part of the Vision2Read literacy campaign.
A previous Aug. 18 book drive was canceled due to the Blue Cut Fire, but people have still donated more than 800 books so far.

The game begins at 5:05 p.m. at 12000 Stadium Way in Adelanto.
