Schools and libraries throughout San Bernardino County are holding Read Across America celebrations from March 1 to March 11.
Reading at grade level by third grade is one of the greatest predictors of children’s success in school, their likelihood of going to college, and their future earning potential. In San Bernardino County, we have a need to improve reading proficiency in our students. Sixty-two percent of San Bernardino County third graders do not meet State English language arts/literacy standards, scoring lower than their peers in neighboring Riverside, Los Angeles, and Orange counties in the 2017 California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress test. Vision2Read is a campaign designed to help improve literacy throughout San Bernardino County by connecting people to literacy programs.
